Title:
Achieving End-to-End Sustainable Medical Manufacturing
Description:
Kate will describe the journey in sustainability that has also led to Lighthouse* designation at two Flex manufacturing sites, Althofen, Austria and Sorocaba, Brazil. She will share how companies can integrate the following for a robust sustainability program throughout a product’s lifecycle: Sustainable manufacturing practices that reduce waste and energy consumption; Circular Economy, which is designing products that are easier to repair, refurbish and/or recycle; sustainable supply chain that includes responsible sourcing of materials, ethical labor practices, and reducing the environmental impact of transportation; technologies and product design for environment, which is incorporating sustainability into design, focusing on those that are energy-efficient, use sustainable materials, and have a lower environmental impact throughout their lifecycle; collaboration and partnerships with customers, NGOs, and industry groups to share best practices and drive sustainability initiatives across the industry; and last but not least, transparency including an annual, comprehensive sustainability report.
*Being named a Lighthouse facility by the World Economic Forum is seen as a mark of excellence in the manufacturing sector, showcasing a facility's leadership in adopting transformative practices that serve as a model for others in the industry.
